I visited my parents’ home for the first time in a long time during this temporary visit.
My parents’ home is in Iizuna Town, located in the northern part of Nagano Prefecture, near the border with Niigata Prefecture.
The main industry is agriculture, with rice and apples being the main agricultural products.
Although the town is located about 30 minutes by car from downtown Nagano, the population is decreasing due to the aging of the residents.
The town is spread out at the foot of Mt. Iizuna, which gives the town its name, and the fields are spread out over a relatively gently sloping expanse of terrain.
In December, the harvest season is over and there are no farmers working the fields, so the quietness of the countryside is impressive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My parents’ house is located in a post town along a highway called “Kitakuni Kaido” in the Edo period (1603-1868), and there are some historic sites that retain the atmosphere of the old days, although only a few of them remain.
I took this photo of the townscape, which evokes a sense of history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

12\u6708\u306f\u8fb2\u4f5c\u7269\u306e\u53ce\u7a6b\u3082\u7d42\u308f\u308a\u3001\u3044\u308f\u3086\u308b\u8fb2\u9591\u671f\u3068\u3044\u3046\u6642\u671f\u306e\u305f\u3081\u8fb2\u4f5c\u696d\u306b\u3042\u305f\u308b\u4eba\u3082\u306a\u304f\u3001\u9759\u5bc2\u306b\u5305\u307e\u308c\u305f\u7530\u5712\u98a8\u666f\u304c\u5370\u8c61\u7684\u3060\u3063\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n
